Nadine and her identical twin sister, Eileen, were born in Lafayette, Indiana to parents Lena and Grover Garrison. She died peacefully at her home in Novato, California, after a short illness.
Nadine was one of fourteen children born into the Garrison family and grew up in Mulberry, Indiana, graduating from Mulberry High School in 1936. That same year she married James Lee Owens, Jr.
Nadine worked as a teller in the Farmer's State Bank at Brookston for several years, and then was an executive secretary to W. S. Fleetemeyer, head of Service Enterprises at Purdue University, for over 30 years, retiring in 1980.
In 1981 she and Milton L. Swan were married and lived in Clinton County, Indiana and Laurel, Florida until Milt's death in 2004.
Nadine is survived by: sons Denny Owens (Patricia) of Novato, California and Christopher Owens (aka, Dale Owens) of Rossmoor, California; step-daughter, Norma L. Smith (Owens) of Sheridan, Indiana, step-son, Marvin R. Owens of Orlando, Florida; step-sons Charles and Joseph Swan and step-daughter Mary Swan of Clinton County, Indiana; sisters Genevieve Morrow of Lebanon, Indiana, and Evelyn Schetzsle of Lafayette, Indiana; brothers Grover C. (Gary) Garrison of Frankfort, Indiana and James H. Garrison of Bloomington, Indiana; four grandchildren, four great- grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and great- nieces and nephews.
Internment was in West Lebanon Cemetery, West Lebanon, Indiana.
