Mary M. (Kennedy) Shamp, age 87 of Williamsport, died at her residence at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2007.
Mary was born in Warren County, IN on June 18, 1919. She was the daughter of Miles Andrew and Jessie D. (Keister) Kennedy. She attended Williamsport High School. She married George A. Shamp on December 5, 1936. He preceded her in death in February 9, 2000. Before moving back to Warren County in 1956 she lived in Miami County, Indiana for 7 years.
Mary worked for RMC in Attica and then went to work for General Electric in Danville, IL, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a member of the West Lebanon Christian Church, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #3318, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #259 Williamsport.
Mary is survived by,
3 sons, Richard “Dick” Shamp of Houston, TX, Roger Shamp of Clovis, NM, and Ralph Shamp (wife: Sheri) of Williamsport, IN; 1 daughter, Barbara Florey (husband: Jarrell) of Williamsport, IN; 2 brothers, Miles Kennedy (wife: Rovene), and Fred Kennedy (wife: Pat) both of Williamsport, IN; 4 sisters, Delilah Lucas, Alta Wagner (husband: Dick), Betty Bennett, and Shirley Borst (husband: Chuck) all of Williamsport, IN; 17 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, Kate Kinneer, 1 brother, Harrison Kennedy and 1 daughter-in-law, Arlene Shamp.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 with Rev. Jerry Miller and Rev. Paul Stamm officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Elizabeth Hospice Care of the American Heart Association.
