OBITUARY (For Immediate Release)

William B. “Bill” Claypool, age 77 of Williamsport, died at 4:48 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at St. Anthony Healthcare in Lafayette, IN surrounded by his loving family. He had been in failing health for several years.
Bill was born on February 1, 1934 in Williamsport, IN. He was the son of Ralph and Esther Mae (Lucas) Claypool. He attended grade school in Ridge Farm, IL and later attended West Lebanon High School. He married Mary Etta Sprinkle on July 12, 1959 at the Williamsport Christian Church. She survives.
Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the VFW Post #3318 Attica. He was employed for the Norfolk Southern Railroad for 43 years retiring in 1996. He then worked at J & B Beverage in Williamsport for 9 years retiring in 2005 due to ill health. He enjoyed reading Westerns, playing cards with his family and telling jokes.

3 daughters, Bonnie McGowen (husband: Doug) and Cathy Bowlus both of Williamsport, IN and Virginia Howard (husband: Rick) of Attica, IN
4 brothers, Gary Claypool (wife: Leslie) and Ralph Claypool (wife: Vicky) both of Lafayette, IN, Tom Claypool (wife: Cathy) of Monticello, IN and Jim Claypool (wife: Nonie) of Dayton, OH
12 grandchildren, Aaron, Adam and Molly McGowen, Kelsey and Trevor Bowlus, Beau Bowlus (fiancée: Elizabeth) all of Williamsport, IN, Ben Howard of West Lebanon, IN, Derick Howard (fiancée: Megan) and Josh Howard both of Attica, IN, Tyler, Nick and Stephen Claypool of Lafayette, IN
3 great grandchildren, Talon and Bryleigh Bowlus, and Grace Howard
Bill was preceded in death by 1 brother, Charles Claypool, 1 sister, Janice Hanson, and a son-in-law, Bryan Bowlus.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Sunday, April 10, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor J. Dave Adams officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
