Nancy L. (Kennedy) Pearson, age 70 of Williamsport, died at 2:55 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness with cancer.
Nancy was born near Williamsport, IN on July 13, 1940. She was the daughter of Grover Cleveland Kennedy and Mary Joene (Shamp) Kennedy Jeffers. She was a 1958 graduate of Williamsport High School. She married Donald W. Pearson on February 21, 1964. He survives.
After high school, she served 2 years in WAC (Women’s Army Corp). She then was a teacher’s aide at the Williamsport Elementary School. She later worked for Harrison Steel Casting Co. in Attica for 15 years and then at the Arni’s and Marathon, both in Williamsport. Nancy was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Attica, Red Hat Society (where she was known as “Sassy Rose”), and the Kickapoo Karvers in Danville, IL. She enjoyed gardening and birds, especially cardinals. She also liked Nascar and her favorite driver was Carl Edwards.
Surviving with her husband, Don, are, children, Kevin W. Pearson (wife: Tammy) of Otterbein, IN and Kelly S. Marks (husband: Randy) of Attica; sisters, Peggy Bowman of Williamsport, Sally Brooks (husband: John) of Attica, and Dot Gassaway of Danville, IL; and 4 grandchildren, Aaron Pearson, Andrew Pearson, Nolan Pearson, and Ashley Marks. Nancy was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Harry L. Shamp, Mick Kennedy, Bill Kennedy and 2 sisters, Mary Lou Talbott and Asa Nash.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be there in the chapel on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Williams officiating and a Red Hat Society presentation at the conclusion of the service. Interment will be Highland Cemetery in Williamsport with full military honors.
