Wayne E. Howard, age 67 of Williamsport died at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with COPD.
Wayne was born on January 16, 1944 near Judyville, IN. He was the son of George and Emma (Jernagan) Howard. He attended Judyville school before moving to Williamsport and starting school there. He married Alice Brooks on September 25, 1966 in Williamsport. She survives.
Wayne was raised in the Pence/Judyville area where his father worked for the Goodwine Brothers. Due to illness, Wayne retired from Harrison Steel in 1994 after 25 plus years. He also worked as a school crossing guard, took care of the town flower boxes, and worked with his brother-in-law, Robert Zenor on the farm. He enjoyed repairing cars, his grandchildren, and trips to Las Vegas and casino boats. During the last months of his illness he looked forward to and enjoyed visits from family and friends. A steady visitor was his brother-in-law, Steve Long.
Surviving with his wife, Alice, are children, Melissa E. Wilson (fiancé: Mike McClure), Robyn D. Gregory, and Clayton W. Howard (wife: Kayla); grandchildren, Mason E. Wilson, Maryah E. Wilson, Maden E. Wilson, Colten E. Gregory, and Shaylen M. Gregory; and brothers, Dewey Howard (wife: Ann), Robert Howard (wife: Nancy), and Steve Howard (wife: Vicki). Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters, Mae Wilson, Kathleen Longest, and James Howard.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Friday, May 20, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Mike Link will be officiating the memorial service. Memorial donations may be made to the Amber Knipe Scholarship Fund through the Warren County Community Foundation.
