Jewell I. (Sells) Vaughn, age 86 of Williamsport, died at 7:35 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation where she had resided the past 7 weeks.
Jewell was born in Attica, IN on June 4, 1924. She was the daughter of Horace E. and Roxie E. (Robbins) Sells. She attended Williamsport High School. She resided in Williamsport most of her life, residing in Fountain County from 1961-1980. Jewell married Cyril Murray in 1941. She later married Edward R. Vaughn in 1962. He preceded her in death in 1995.
Jewell was an experienced waitress at the Covington Beef House for 29 years. She attended the Williamsport Christian Church and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #3318 Attica. She loved to play bingo and enjoyed playing cards. She was considered beloved by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are, 4 children, Sharon Stover, Myrna Synesael (husband: Randy) and Brenda Butler all of Williamsport, and Bill Vaughn (wife: Joy) of Indianapolis; brother and sister, Detro Sells (wife: Berniece) of California and Joyce Davis of Williamsport; 2 sisters-in-law, Shirley Sells of Nevada and Pat Sells of California; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Jewell was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, Ingelow Sells, Eugene Sells and Graden Sells.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at noon at the Williamsport Christian Church on Saturday, June 4, 2011 with Rev. Don Williams officiating with inurnment at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions may be made to the Williamsport Christian Church.
