Rondell R. “Doc” Hurt, age 62 of West Lebanon, died at 4:53 P.M. on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette, IN following a short illness.
Doc was born on June 29, 1944 in Edmonton, KY. He was the son of Edward and Sable (Blaydes) Hurt. He graduated from Richland Township High School. He resided in West Lebanon for the past 33 years. He married Doris Sexton on April 29, 1974 in Covington, IN. She survives.
He worked for Olin Corporation in Covington. He later owned and operated R & D Furniture in West Lebanon with his wife, Doris for 28 years. Doc dedicated his life to the West Lebanon Fire Department serving 23 years, 10 years as Assistant Fire Chief and as a member of the rescue team for 12 years.

4 daughters, Sondra Sharky (husband: Mike) of Crawfordsville, IN; Shelly Martin of IN; Debbie Strickler of Wallace, IN; and Ronetta Sheppard of Tucson, AZ; and 4 stepchildren, Diane Blacketer (husband: Gary) of West Lebanon; Vicky Blankenship (husband: Ed) of Veedersburg; Tina Wilson of West Lebanon; and Terry Easter (wife: Stacy) of Covington
2 brothers, Donald Hurt (wife: Jo Ellen) of Hetrick, IN and Bobby Hurt of Louisville, KY; 20 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and 1 great-grandson.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon, IN on Sunday, June 3, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. CDT. Services will be there in the chapel on Monday, June 4, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. CDT with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Lebanon Fire Department.
