Obituary (For Immediate Release) Dateline: Attica, IN Virgil James, age 59 of Attica, formerly of Williamsport, died at 4:50 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2011 at Woodland Manor Nursing Center in Attica. Virgil was born in Lafayette, IN on April 18, 1952. He was the son of Morris Edward and Madeline (Rowland) James. He was a Warren County resident most of his life. Virgil worked for Pine Village Elementary School as a custodian, at Circle H, for Leonard and June Hildenbrand, and in the kitchen for Robie’s Restaurant. He had previously attended the New Hope Baptist Church. He loved gardening, flowers, and spoiling his nieces and nephews. At Thanksgiving time he opened up his house and fed many hungry people. Surviving are, Tony Lister of Attica, who he raised and treated like a son; siblings, Betty Krichbaum of Williamsport, IN, Raymond James (wife: Terrie) of Rainsville, IN, Wayne James (wife: Martha) of Rainsville, IN, Linda Simmons (husband: David) of Crawfordsville, IN, Sharon Foster of Williamsport, IN, and Debbie Cooksey of Williamsport, IN; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and very special friend, Aldean Criswell. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gene James, and a sister, Carol Abraham. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Rainsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Warren County Community Foundation Mac Van Fund.
