Mildred “Millie” I. (DeMotte)Weaver Pence Springman, age 92 of Williamsport, died at 10:26 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2011 at the Woodland Manor Nursing Center in Attica.
Mildred was born in Williamsport, IN on March 19, 1919. She was the daughter of John D. and Edith (Moore) DeMotte. She was a Warren County resident most of her life. She graduated from Williamsport High School in 1936 and went on to graduate from Brown Business College (now Harrison University) in Terre Haute, IN. Mildred married Robert Weaver in 1940 and moved to Chicago and worked for an insurance company. They then moved to Denver, CO where she worked for Sears in the office. She got divorced in 1945. She moved back to Williamsport and worked in the bank. She married Ernest Pence in 1951. They lived and worked on the family farm. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1973. She married Gilberie Springman in 1975. They wintered in Port St. Lucie, FL. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1981. She continued to winter in Florida until 2003. After her farmhouse burned she moved to Williamsport which brought her full-circle to living in Williamsport.
Mildred was a member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church, OES Williamsport Chapter and the WSCS Womens Church Association. She enjoyed working in the yard, raising flowers, bird watching, golfing, boating, square and round dancing, playing bridge, and watching sports on TV, especially tennis and golf.

3 children, Becky Long (husband: Jim) of Sullivan, IN, Tom Pence (wife: Peggy) of Williamsport, IN, and Gillie Springman (wife: Marilyn) of Kentwood, MI
4 nieces, Barbara Murphy (husband: Bob) of The Villages, FL, Beverlie VanLeer (husband: Don) of Las Vegas, NV, Betty Williams (husband: Ron) of Las Vegas, NV, and Georgia Walker of Louisville, KY
8 grandchildren, Danny Pence (wife: Ellen), Debbie Bird (husband: Jim), and Deanna Abel (husband: Bob), Pamela Lynch (husband: Randy), Shelly Brown (husband: Tom), Charlene Springman, Melinda Springman, and Megon Springman
5 great-grandchildren, Cassie Hiday, Kaitlin Pence, Sean Pence, twins Greg and Abby Abel, and Sarah Abel
1 cousin, Marilyn Stucker of Texas
Mildred was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Roberta Carol, and 2 sisters, Maxine Brown and Doris Walker.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Friday, September 30, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles B. Anderson officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
