Marshall Foch Burleson, age 81, of Pence, IN died at 2:50 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton, IN.
Marshall was born on October 17, 1930 in Hamilton, Alabama. He was the son of Fred D. and Willie Lillie (Smith) Burleson. He attended Sullens School and Buttahatchee School in Hamilton, Alabama. Marshall married Barbara Ann Manus in Williamsport on October 20, 1953. She preceded him in death on September 28, 1999. He was raised and resided in Alabama until moving to Indiana where he lived in Romney and later Warren County, Pence from 1963 until 2006 when he moved to Williamsport to live with his son, Mark and his family. In 2007 he became a resident of the Waters of Covington until 2009 when he moved to the Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton, IN.
When he lived in Alabama he farmed and in Warren County he worked for Mehaffey and Martin Farms. He loved fishing, gardening, yard work, and feeding the birds. He enjoyed collecting anything and everything.
Surviving are, 2 sons, Mark L. Burleson (wife: Melody) of Williamsport and Matthew D. Burleson (wife: Kathleen) of Danville, IL; sister, DeLois Foxworthy of Richmond, Vermont; brother, Howard D. Burleson (wife: Glenda) of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; 5 grandchildren, April Hudson, Nikki Burleson, Tish Stevenson, Katrina Funnell and Bridget LeBlanc; and 6 great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Stevenson, Sabrina Mason, Aja Mason, Osiris Rish, Thaddeus Rish, and Leonidas Rish. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, George “Bill” Burleson and James Willard Burleson, and sister, Joyce Britton.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 26, 2011 at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Williams officiating. Interment will be at Jordan Cemetery in Pence. Memorial donations may be made to the Williamsport Christian Church.
