Margaret D. Steele

Margaret D. Chambers Steele, age 85 of Pine Village, IN died at her home on August 21, 2007. Margaret was born in Warren County, IN on December 30, 1921. She was the daughter of John Kesling and Nellie L. (Moore) Chambers. She was a 1939 graduate of West Lebanon High School and lived in Warren County most of her life. On April 12, 1942 she married McCord Steele in West Lebanon. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1992. Margaret was a homemaker and also had worked for Purdue University and Warren County ASCS. Margaret was a member of the Pine Village United Methodist Church. Margaret was a former member of OES Pine Village and the Pine Village Literary Club and Homemaker. Surviving are, 2 sons, Edward Steele (wife: Joanne) of Mt. Shasta, CA and Jeffry Steele (wife: Susan) of Millis, MA; 1 daughter, Layna Cottingham (husband: “Doc”) of Pine Village, IN; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 sister, Dorothy Jean Chambers, and 2 brothers, John Carlton Chambers and Cleon Lorenze Chambers. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home on Friday, August 24, 2007 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. EDT. Services will be on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at the Pine Village United Methodist Church at 11:00 A.M. EDT with Pastor Mike Link officiating. Interment will be at Justus Cemetery in Oxford, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Purdue Christian Campus House or the Pine Village United Methodist Church.
