Charles Gilbert Hardesty, age 70 of State Line, IN died at 2:55 p.m. CST on Monday, February 13, 2012 at VA Medical Center in Danville, IL.
Charles was born in Delphi, IN on August 31, 1941. He was the son of Elmer Clinton and Agnes Lillian (Lewis) Hardesty. He attended Lafayette Jeff schools. He served in the US Navy on the Essex. He previously lived in Lafayette, IN, Rossville, IN and Pence, IN. He resided in State Line the past 44 years. On September 6, 1963 he married Theresa FitzSimons in Denver, IN.
Charles worked for Hyster, later known as Nacco, in Danville, IL for 38 years.
Surviving with his wife, Theresa, are 4 children, Teresa Lynn Hardesty of Lafayette, IN, Lloyd Clinton Hardesty (wife: Lori Ann) of State Line, Vonda Kay Lister of Williamsport, and Anthony Lynn Hardesty (wife: Monet) of Lafayette; a granddaughter who was raised as a daughter, Sherry Lynn Hardesty of State Line, IN; brother, Dale Lynn Hardesty (wife: Georganne) of Monticello, IN; 2 sisters, Eva C. Douglas (husband: Robert) of Lafayette and Betty C. Hardesty (companion: Jim Miller) of Buck Creek IN; 7 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Clinton Lee Hardesty.
On Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon there will be a celebration of life from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. EST. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
