Joyce A. Salts

Joyce A. (Salts) McDonald, age 76 of Williamsport, died at 4:34 A.M. on Monday, September 3, 2007 at her daughter, Regina’s, home after a lengthy illness with cancer. Joyce was born in West Lebanon, IN on November 20, 1930. She was the daughter of Orville Simpson and Mary A. (Salts) Townsend. She was raised by her grandparents, Guy and Bertha Salts. Joyce was a lifelong resident of Warren County and had attended West Lebanon High School. She also attended Tibbins Business College and Huffers Beauty School. On February 10, 1954 she married Lonnie A. McDonald in Mellott, IN. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2002. Joyce was a caregiver for several local residents. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and having garage sales. Joyce also enjoyed cooking and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are, 2 daughters, Regina Austin and Rhonda Eller (husband: Tom) both of Williamsport, IN; 2 brothers, Richard Townsend (wife: Denise) and Robert Townsend both of Danville, IL; 5 sisters, Peggy Hancock and Sandy Longhorn (husband: Jerry) both of Westville, IL, Lois Boswell (husband: Paul) of Tilton, IL, Janice Stahl (husband: Lavon) and Alys French both of Veedersburg, IN; 3 grandchildren, Robert R. Kenny, Jr., of Middletown, IN, Ryan Johnson of Williamsport, IN and Laura R. Austin of Phoenix, AZ; Step-grandson, Josiah Eller (Wife: Jenni) of Lafayette, IN; 2 great-grandchildren, Chelsea A. Kenny and Kyle Robert Kenny both of Middletown, IN; 1 step great-grandson, Lex Eller of Lafayette, IN; 1 uncle, Bill Salts of West Lebanon, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Lonnie, parents, stepfather, Robert Townsend, grandparents, 4 sisters, Roberta Powell, Bertha Cadman, Patty Lape, and Jackie Clawson, 4 brothers, Fred Townsend, Bill Townsend, Jerry Townsend, and Jimmy Townsend, and uncle, Fred Salts. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Thursday, September 6, 2007 from 4:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. EDT. Services will be there in the chapel on Friday, September 7, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. EDT with Rev. Grover Williams officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery.
