Marguerite "Peggy" A. (White) Evans

Marguerite “Peggy” A. (White) Evans, age 78 of Williamsport, IN died at 2:20 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Woodland Manor Nursing Center in Attica, IN. Peggy was born on July 28, 1933 in Duluth, MN. She was the daughter of Richard and Velva (Lackore) White. She graduated from high school in Duluth and went on to receive her nursing degree from St. Luke’s Hospital. She married Delmar Evans in Duluth on March 30, 1957. He survives. Peggy worked for the Oxford Nursing Home, Williamsport Community Hospital and then the Woodland Manor Nursing Center when it first opened, where she later became the Director of Nursing for 19 years. She retired in 1998. Peggy was a member of the Marshfield Presbyterian Church for 55 years. She was a volunteer that sewed garments for the nursing home, served on the St. Vincent Hospital Guild and the Warren County Community Foundation Board. She was very active in her community and at one time was the secretary for the Easter Seal Campaign. Peggy was an excellent cook, loved her flowers, birds, reading, antiquing, and traveling. She loved and was devoted to her family and friends. Surviving with her husband, Delmar, are 3 children, Steve Evans, (wife: Laura) of Attica, Lynn Jewell (husband: Bob) of Martinsville, and Julie Bohnenkamp (husband: Richard) of Greenwood; 10 grandchildren, Tiffany Evans Brewer (husband: Mike), Jessica Evans Hardy (husband: Chad), Jenna Evans Velasco (husband: Phil), Jennifer Evans, Alyssa Jewell, Rachel Jewell, Brianna Sykes, Tyler Sykes, Sarah Bohnenkamp, and Kelly Bohnenkamp; and 8 great-grandchildren. Peggy was preceded in death by 1 brother, Danney White and 1 sister, Kay Ralston. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport, IN on Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Marshfield Presbyterian Church with Pastor Judi Geistlinger officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marshfield Presbyterian Church General Fund.
