Mazella “Mazie” (Hines) Swisher, age 90 of Williamsport, IN and long time resident of Pine Village, IN went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 12:24 p.m. at Creasy Springs Health Campus in Lafayette, IN after a brief stay.
Mazie was born in Liberty, KY on January 31, 1922. She was the daughter of George and Nellie (Elliott) Hines. She attended Judyville School, Williamsport High School, and Huffers Beauty College in Lafayette. On June 28, 1942 she married Clyde M. Swisher in Williamsport, IN. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2006.
Mazie owned and operated a beauty shop in Pine Village for several years. She attended Pine Village Christian Church where she taught Sunday School and served on many committees. She was a 4-H leader and active in school activities. She enjoyed working with children, sewing, crocheting, and reading her Bible.
Surviving are, 1 sister, Mary Turnpaugh of Williamsport, IN; 4 grandchildren, Debra Hollenbeck (husband: Greg) of Lafayette, IN; Mike Swisher (wife: Nikki) of Williamsport; Susan O’Leary (husband: John) of Fort Collins, CO; and Stacey Staggie of Las Vegas, NV; 7 great-grandchildren, Josh Miller, Kelcey and Kiley Swisher, Tyson and Mason O’Leary, Scott and Gina Staggie; 1 daughter, Diane Logsdon of Las Vegas, NV; and 1 son, Tom Swisher of Nicholasville, KY. Mazie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Minister Bruce Thornsbrough officiating. Interment will be at Pine Village Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be to the Hanging Rock Christian Assembly Camp.
