Robert E. Miles, age 76 of rural Pine Village, IN died at 8:35 P.M., Sunday, November 18, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Regional Health in Lafayette, IN.
Robert was born in Warren County, IN on May 25, 1931. He was the son of Cecil and Mary (Johnson) Miles. He was a 1949 graduate of Williamsport High School. Robert was a lifelong resident of Warren County.
Robert was a lifelong farmer and owned several businesses. In 1964 he opened Miles & Benson Farm Service in Pine Village. He was the sole owner of Pine Village Service Center from 1975-1995. He continued farming and with the Pine Village Service Center until 2006 with his son, Mitch. He enjoyed collecting antique tractors and playing cards. He especially enjoyed being with his family and friends.
Surviving are, 2 daughters, Gail Anderson (husband: Alan) of Pine Village and Kim Markley (husband: Jim) of Attica; 2 sons, Mitch Miles (wife: Marilyn) of Pine Village and Jim Miles (wife: Vickie) of Missouri City, TX; 3 sisters, Margaret Davis of Attica, Lois Mielke of Danville, IL, and Helen Davis of Peoria, IL; 1 brother, Don Miles (companion: B.J.) of Williamsport, IN; 12 grandchildren, Cassie Anderson, Brooke Anderson, Shannon Stephen (husband: Travis), T.J. Flynn (wife: Kendra), Megan Duchemin (husband: Dan), Adam Miles, Andrea Tullos (husband: Jeff), Abbi Miles, Zach Markley, Caleb Markley, Eli Markley, and Josie Markley; and 4 great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Alice Massing, and 1 brother, Bill Miles.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Friday, November 23, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. EST. Services will be there in the chapel on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. EST with Pastor Mike Link officiating and Mitch Miles and Cassie Anderson celebrating Robert’s life. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Warren County Community Foundation, Pine Village Elementary Scholarship Fund.
