Walter N. Land, age 79 of rural Attica, IN died at 3:35 a.m. CST on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Provena United Samaritans Center, Danville, IL.
Walter was born on August 13, 1933 in Danville, IL. He was the son of Samuel and Helen R. (Kennedy) Land. He was raised in West Lebanon and moved to rural Attica in 1970. He had lived in Cocoa Beach, FL the past 10 years. He had attended West Lebanon schools. In 1953 he married Mary Louise Huffman and they later divorced. He then married Nadine E. Wolf in 1975 and she preceded him in death on July 16, 2008.
Walter served in the US Air Force. He worked for Farm Bureau in Williamsport, National Homes, in car sales for Campbell in Boswell, as a meat cutter for Payless, and as a roofer and contractor. He also worked for Steve Morrison doing odd jobs. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, tinkering with bicycles and going to flea markets.
Surviving are, 1 son, Donald F. Land of West Lebanon; 1 stepdaughter, Kathy Darnell of Lafayette; 2 brothers, Jerry Land of Kentucky, Larry Land of Crawfordsville; 1 sister, Mabel Geiger (husband: Morris) of Crawfordsville; 16 step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren. Walter was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Joseph, James, Raymond, Jack & Roy Land, 3 sisters, Mary Shelley, Janet Land, and Sue Titus, 1 son, Walter David Land, and 4 stepsons, Bill, Jim, Dick, and Bruce Wolf.
