Donald D. Sewell

Donald D. Sewell, age 72 of Williamsport, died at 3:10 A.M. on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis due to complications from surgery. Donald was born on February 18, 1935 in Williamsport, IN. He was the son of Jesse C. and Thelma E. (Hurley) Sewell, Jr. He was a graduate of West Lebanon High School and was a lifelong resident of Warren County. On September 1, 1962 he married Judy “Jude” Hamilton in Williamsport. She survives. Don worked for Harrison Steel Casting Co. in Attica and then Sewell’s Sunoco for 16 years. He then owned and operated Williamsport Tire Mart for 23 years. He currently was working as a driver for TMF Center in Williamsport and Briles Excavating and mowing for the Town of Williamsport. He was a volunteer for the Williamsport Fire Department for 25 years, having served as chief for several years. Don was a member of the Eagles FOE #2596. With his wife and best friend, Judy, of 45 years, he drove stock car #209 at the Benton County Speedway where he later became an avid fan and sponsor. He also was a Nascar fan, and Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver. Don felt as though he taught every Warren County kid how to water ski either standing or sitting. While his kids were growing up he loved taking them boating, fishing and mushrooming. Everyone knew Don as a prankster and he loved to goose? He was a Williamsport Little League coach and an avid euchre and solitaire player. Surviving with his wife, Judy, are 4 children, Cindi (Bill) Askren of Attica; Darin Sewell of Williamsport; Lori (Mike) Sichts of Attica; and Mike “Pete”(Bridgitte) Sewell of Williamsport; 1 brother, Glen “Beano” Sewell of West Lebanon; 11 grandchildren with 2 of them in Australia; and 8 ¾ great-grandchildren with 2 of them in Australia. Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Denny Hamilton, and his in-laws, Perry and Bernice Hamilton. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. EST. on Saturday, December 8, 2007. Services will be there in the chapel on Sunday, December 9, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. EST with Judy’s cousins, Steve Unger and Rev. Paul Unger officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Warren County Youth Little League.
