Carolyn I. (Cates) White age 70 of rural Williamsport died at her home on Tuesday, December 11, 2007.
Carolyn was born on February 24, 1937 in rural Kingman, IN. She was the daughter of Keith H. and Irene Meade Cates. She was a 1955 graduate of Kingman High School. Carolyn graduated in 1959 from Indiana Central College which was later named University of Indianapolis. She received her master’s of education degree in 1965 from Indiana University. Carolyn married Phillip E. “Phil” White on August 17, 1962 in Indianapolis, IN and he survives. Carolyn and Phil had lived in Indianapolis then Kingman before moving to West Lebanon in 1967 and have resided in rural Williamsport since 1980.
Carolyn was a retired school teacher who taught from 1959-1995. She first taught at Bluff Avenue Elementary School and Edgewood Elementary School both of MSD Perry Township in Marion County. She then taught 5th grade, teaching in the same classroom, at Warren Central Elementary School from 1970-1995. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in West Lebanon and was a past Elder. She was very active in the church choir. She was past president of Fountain & Warren Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association, serving on many state committees. She was a member of Tri Kappa Associate Chapter in Attica. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and AARP. She enjoyed reading and watching the Game Show Network. She loved sports, especially Butler University basketball, the St. Louis Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts and Seeger sports.

2 sons, Robert “Bob” White (Wife: Dana) of Lafayette, IN, William “Bill” White (Wife: Tammy) of Houston, TX; 1 brother, Dale Cates (Wife: Anna) of rural Kingman, IN; 4 grandchildren, Keith White and Austin White both of Lafayette, IN, Phillip White and James White both of Houston, TX; and 1 cousin, Virginia Logue (Husband: Bob) of O’Fallon, MO.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, and 1 sister, Norma Cates.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Friday, December 14, 2007 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. EST. Services will be at Trinity Presbyterian Church 301 S. Clinton Street in West Lebanon on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. EST. with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Roger McDaniel will be officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Williamsport. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church or Warren County Community Foundation.
