Harold Dwain Thompson, age 76 of West Lebanon, died at 6:15 A.M. on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at the Waters of Williamsport.
Dwain was born on May 10, 1931 near Williamsport, IN. He was the son of Chester W. and Lola (Baird) Thompson. He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1949. After high school he joined the Marine Corp and served in the Korean War. On August 21, 1955 he married Clara June Phelps in Hedrick, IN. She survives. They moved back to the Warren County area in 1956.
Dwain farmed with his parents. He managed the Shell Station in West Lebanon for 18 years, and then managed the Gulf Station in Williamsport. Before retiring he drove for Charlie Cantwell and then retired from Wright Implement. He attended the Hedrick Church of God. He was a member of the Free & Accepted Masons. Among his hobbies were riding and showing horses.
Surviving with his wife, June, are, 2 daughters, Vickie Miles (husband: Jim) of Missouri City, TX and Connie Foster (husband: Maurice) of Attica, IN; 2 brothers, Carroll Thompson (wife: Arlene) of Hillsboro, TX and Bill Thompson (wife: Hazel) of Greer, SC; 2 sisters, Judy Bland (husband: Jerry) of Dallas, TX and Janet Wright of Catlin, IL; 4 grandchildren, Adam Miles, Andrea Tullos (husband: Jeff), Abbie Miles (fiancee: Will Correa), and Stacey Foster; and 1 great-grandchild, Bryan James Tullos. Dwain was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Eugene Thompson.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. EST. A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the West Lebanon Cemetery with full military honors. Travis Hamilton will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society.
