Thomas L. Kyle, age 87 of Attica, IN died at 10:04 a.m. on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at the Indiana Veterans Home.
Thomas was born in Owensboro, KY on February 17, 1925. He was the son of Edgar H. and Gennie R. (Wood) Kyle. He resided in Fordsville, KY, Cannelton, IN from 1947-1962, Lafayette, IN until the late 1970’s, Gainesville and Summerville, FL until moving to Attica, IN 8 years ago. Thomas married Mary Magdeline Cooper on March 19, 1943 in Owensboro, KY. She survives.
Thomas served in the US Army during World War II. He was a gun crewman serving in the South Philippines: Luzon. He received 3 bronze stars. Thomas built homes and was a cement finisher in Lafayette, IN for many years. He was an active member and deacon at the First Baptist Church of Summerfield and Elston Heights Baptist Church. He helped start several Southern Baptist Missions. He loved fishing and church was his life.
Surviving are, 2 sons, Gary Thomas Kyle (wife: Betty) of Rossville, IN and Marvin Guy Kyle (wife: Cheryl M.) of Attica, IN; 2 sisters, Sudie Nix of Cannelton, IN and Anita Killems (husband: Prentice) of Gainesville, FL; 6 grandchildren, Bradley Kyle (wife: Rebecca), Troy Kyle (wife: Dawn), Melissa Kyle, Regina Krick, Patty Sparger (husband: Steve), and Marvin Guy Kyle, Jr. (wife: Becky); 14 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and 6 step-great-grandchildren. Thomas was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Joe, Charles, Paul & William Kyle.
There will be a funeral service at the Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette, IN in the Auditorium of the MacArthur Building on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. with Chaplain Hess officiating. Interment will be at the Indiana Veterans Home Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Indiana Veterans Home.
