Donald R. Howard

Donald R. Howard, age 70 of Pine Village, IN died at 8:35 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at St. Elizabeth East in Lafayette, IN. Don was born on September 8, 1942 in Fowler, IN. He was the son of Russell J. and Izola (Dowling) Howard. He attended Boswell High School and lived most of his life in Pine Village. He married Betty Showalter on July 30, 1961 in South Mills, NC. She survives. Don was a self-employed truck driver. He served in the US Navy from 1960-1963, then served in the Army Reserves and the Navy Reserves. He was a member of the VFW Post #3318 Attica. Don enjoyed fishing and his family. Surviving with his wife, are, Mother, Izola Howard of Earl Park, IN 4 children, Ronald Wayne Howard (wife: Patricia) of Lafayette, Tamara Zellers (husband: Randy) of Rensselaer, IN, Connie Good (husband: Ray) of West Lafayette, IN, and Brooke Wetli (husband: Brad) of Otterbein, IN 1 sister, Alice French of Lafayette, IN 5 grandchildren, Cortney Barnes (Bill) of North Judson, IN, Randy Zellers, Jr. (April) of Colorado Springs, CO, Stephanie Curry (Noah) of Montmorenci, IN, and Aiden Wetli and Hannah Wetli both of Otterbin, IN 3 great-grandchildren, Keeton, Bentley, and Swayze Messina of Montmorenci, IN Don was preceded in death by his father, sister, Judy Krichbaum, brother, Robert Howard, and grandson, Caleb Wetli A graveside service will be held at Pine Village Cemetery on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Allen officiating and full military honors. The family will receive friends at the Pine Village Methodist Church from 12:00 to 1:30 as a time to remember Don. In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made to the Humane Society, 1705 S 2nd St., Lafayette, IN 47905.
