Laurena P. (Pugh) Johnson Harbaugh

Laurena P. (Pugh) Johnson Harbaugh, age 91 of Williamsport, IN died at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013 at St. Mary Health Care Center, Lafayette, IN. Laurena was born near Williamsport, IN on October 5, 1921. She was the daughter of Archie and Freda Pugh. She lived in West Lebanon, IN for several years, then moved to Arizona from 1972 to 1996 when she returned to Williamsport, IN. She married Verne Johnson on November 19, 1938 and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1976. She later married Joseph “Albert” Harbaugh in September 1976 in Yuma, AZ and he preceded her in death on August 13, 1995. Laurena worked for General Electric in Danville, IL for 11 years, and had volunteered at the Williamsport Hospital Gift Shop for several years. While living in Mesa, AZ she owned and managed the Dreamland Villa Café for several years. She attended the Williamsport Christian Church. She enjoyed working and raising her family, along with gardening, cooking, and tending to her flowers. She and Vern took their family on numerous trips throughout the United States and later enjoyed the many trips to Canada with her second husband to visit their friends. Laurena was a fan of the Kentucky Derby and collecting Thomas Kincade items. Surviving are, 2 sons, Walter E. Johnson (wife: Sandy) of Williamsport and John E. Johnson (wife: Sandy) of Pensacola, Fla; 4 daughters, Nancy Burson (late husband: Jerry) of Thompson, MO, Clydene Johnson of Newtown, Debra Wagner (husband: Todd) of Williamsport, and Regina Jones (husband: Larry) of Lafayette, IN 17 grandchildren, Hank Johnson, Brian Johnson (wife: Vickie), Mike Johnson, Eric Johnson (wife: Dawn), Bill McIntosh, Randy McIntosh (wife: Terry), David Allen McIntosh (wife: Jill), Stacy McCormick (husband: Rob), Brandy Groff, Kyle Wagner (wife: Anne), Katie Mickle (husband: Dustin), Bill Johnson, Terry Johnson, Samantha Cooper (husband: Robbie), Tina Veach (husband: Andrew), Victoria Jones, and Tabitha Jones 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren Laurena was preceded in death by 1 son, Fredrick V. Johnson, 1 sister, Betty Wagner, and 2 brothers, Bill (Smith) Pugh and Robert Pugh. She also leaves behind her loving family at St Mary’s Healthcare that she was blessed with three years ago. The staff cared for and loved her as their own mother or grandmother, and the residents of Legacy Lane and their families became extended family. Visitation will be at 5:00 – 8:00 pm Monday May 20, 2013 at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport, IN. Funeral will be 1:00 pm Tuesday May 21, 2013 with Pastor Don Williams officiating, with burial at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to St Mary’s Healthcare’s Legacy Lane.
