Alberta Leona (Cronkhite) Groff

Alberta Leona (Cronkhite) Groff, age 104 of West Lebanon, IN died at 6:27 a.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Alberta was born near Marshfield, IN on January 19, 1909. She was the daughter of Albert and Nellie (Goodrick) Cronkhite. She attended Redwood School. On August 24, 1937 she married Lowell Emerson Groff in Tipton, IN. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1992. Alberta worked at Hicks Plaza and was a housewife. She loved to play basketball and enjoyed dancing. Surviving are, 2 sons, Max Groff (wife: Harriet) of Williamsport and Hershel Groff of West Lebanon; 2 daughters, Judy Colby (husband: Norman) of West Lebanon, IN and Lola Hislope (husband: Dormas) of West Lebanon; 9 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sons, Rick and Rudy Groff, grandson, Bobby Dean Groff, 5 brothers and 5 sisters. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Minister Bruce Thornsbrough officiating. Interment will follow at West Lebanon Cemetery.
