Mildred J. (Gent) Elrod, age 71 of West Lebanon, IN died at 2:40 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Woodland Manor Nursing Center in Attica, IN after a long illness.
Mildred was born in Middlesboro, KY on May 10, 1942. She was the daughter of Johnnie and Wilma (Garland) Gent. She attended Powell Valley High School and married Willie B. Elrod on December 1, 1958 in Hancock County, TN. He survives. They have resided in Warren County the past 36 years.
Mildred was a homemaker and was previously a Stanley Home Products dealer. She was a member of the Talbot Missionary Baptist Church. She was saved at the age of 16 at Mt. Pleasant Church in Pine Hill Hollow, TN. Mildred was a loving grandmother and wonderful mother and wife. She enjoyed going to yard sales. She loved singing and shouting in church serving her Lord.

3 children, Judy Rife (husband: Joe) of West Point, IN, John Elrod and James Elrod (wife: Nikki) both of West Lebanon, IN
4 siblings, Charles Gent (wife: Evelyn) of Kingston, TN, Harry Lee Gent (wife: Connie) of Tazewell, TN, Brenda Ellison (husband: Doug, deceased) of Morristown, TN, and Danny Gent of Morristown, TN
5 grandchildren, Jessica Rae Elrod (fiancé: Brian Brenn), John Tyler Elrod, Jennifer Rowe (husband: Stephen), Julie Marsh (husband: Tyler), and Ethan Elrod

She was preceded by 2 brothers, John Bennie Gent and David Gent.
Visitation will be at Talbot Missionary Baptist Church in Talbot, IN on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at noon with Elder James Elrod officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Talbot Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Fund.
