Thomas C. Ransom, age 83 of West Lebanon, died at 4:38 P.M. EST on Friday, July 4, 2008 at Lafayette Home Hospital.
Thomas was born on July 28, 1924 in Talbott, IN. He was the son of Charles Perry and Juliet Lillis (Whickcar) Ransom. He was a 1942 graduate of Williamsport High School where he was the class president. On January 27, 1946 he married Barbara Jean Routzahn. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2001.
Thomas worked for Public Service in Lafayette, IN and then as a distributor for Mobil Oil, and later owned and operated Ransom Oil from 1980-1986.
Thomas was a 32nd degree mason and member of F & AM Lodge #352 West Lebanon, member of the Zorah Shrine Temple in Terre Haute, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, and Attica Eagles Lodge #2596. He and his wife Barbara would attend St. Louis Cardinal baseball games and the Indianapolis 500. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed being around people. He also enjoyed watching Animal Planet and the History Channel on TV.
Surviving are, 2 daughters, Cynthia Starr Crystal (husband: Jim) of Lafayette, IN and Deborah Jill Ransom of Fowler, IN; 1 son, Tim Ransom of Williamsport, IN; 2 brothers, Jack Ransom of Lafayette, IN and Richard Ransom (wife: Susan) of Delphi, IN; 5 grandchildren, Laura Goodrick, Mark Crystal, Joe Crystal, Samantha Wright, and Jennifer Greenburg; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and special friend & caregiver, Pam Reynolds.
Private services will be held at a later date at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport with interment at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
