William H. “Bill” Vore, Jr., age 78 of Marshfield, IN died at 6:17 a.m. EDT on Monday, August 4, 2008 at St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born on August 10, 1929 in Modoc, Athens County, OH. He was the son of William H. and Charity J. (Kinser) Vore, Sr. Bill attended school in Ohio. He had been a resident of Warren County since 1955. He married Norma Conner on October 28, 1950 in Congerville, IL. She preceded him in death on January 9, 2006.
Bill was a member of the Marshfield Presbyterian Church and attended Williams Chapel in Johnsonville. He worked at Ross Gear, now a division of TRW in Lafayette. He retired in 1994 from the Metropolitan School District of Warren County where he was a maintenance supervisor for 22 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1947-1950. Bill was a member of the F. & A.M. Lodge #352 West Lebanon and was a Past Master. He served as precinct committeeman for the Warren County Democrat Committee. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, his animals, and time spent having coffee with close friends while sitting at the round table.
Surviving are, 2 daughters, Pam Black (husband: Larry) of Marshfield and Judy Knutson (husband: Steve) of Sturgis, MI; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Evelyn Thompson of Marshfield, IN. Bill was preceded in death by his brother, William Gilmore Vore.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon on August 6, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. EDT with Masonic services at 8:00 p.m. Services will be there in the chapel on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. EDT with Pastor Jay Richie officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Williams Chapel in Johnsonville or F & A.M. Lodge #352 West Lebanon.
