Lucille Jean (Nyberg) Abel Brown

Lucille Jean (Abel) Brown, age 93 of Carmel, IN, formerly of Williamsport, IN, died at 6:02 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Clare Bridge in Carmel, IN. Jean was born on May 28, 1921 in Chicago, IL. She was the daughter of Edwin and Ida (Neidergang) Nyberg. She graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1939. On July 8, 1941 she married Cecil R. Abel and he preceded her in death on July 5, 1960. She later married Lorenze Brown on August 16, 1962 and he preceded her on September 21, 1987. Jean lived in Williamsport from 1954 until 1989 when she moved to Carmel, IN. Jean worked as a Manager for the Chicago Insurance Exchange and subsequently was a co-owner of the Abel Insurance Agency in Williamsport. She had attended the Williamsport Christian church and enjoyed playing golf, card games with her her grandchildren, doing needlepoint, and was an avid reader. Jean spent the majority of her life being a mentor for her children. Surviving are, Children, Robert A. Abel (wife: Dee) of Carmel, IN, Donald K. Abel (wife: Karen) of Columbus, IN, Barbara Murphy (husband: Bob) of Summerfield, FL, Beverlie VanLeer (husband: Don) and Betty Williams (husband: Ron) both of Las Vegas, NV 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren Jean was preceded in death by her siblings, Jack Nyberg, Lorraine (Nyberg) Marcon and Robert Nyberg. Visitation will be at the Williamsport Christian Church on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jesse Stoner officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Williamsport, IN. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Special Olympics Indiana.
