Lois Earlene (Egly) York age 97 of Williamsport, IN died at 5:57 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Williamsport Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Lois was born on August 5, 1917 in Pontiac, IL. She was the daughter of the late Jesse and Ida Egly. On January 20, 1945 she married James Edward York at the Egly home on North Logan Avenue in Danville, IL. He survives.
The Egly family are active members of the Community Church of God, formerly the First Church of God, in Danville with Lois’ sister, Marian’s grandson, serving as the current pastor. For about 30 years Lois and family worshiped at the Stringtown Church of God where she taught Sunday school and was the Worship pianist.
As young ladies Lois, Dorothy, Clara and Marian sang in a quartet with Alice on the piano at several functions in Lincoln Park. Lois worked in bookkeeping for several businesses around Danville, IL, two of which were Sears Roebuck and then retiring from Lakeview Medical Center.
Surviving with her husband, James, are children, Mary Anne Cecil, Edward Lee (Julie) York, Martha Jane (Richard) Garza, and Jonathan Paul (Roberta) York; siblings, Dorothy (Harold) Garner, Danville IL, Glenn Egly, Houston TX, Alan (Pat) Egly, Davenport IA; grandchildren: Jesse (Michelle) Cecil, Jennifer (Eric) Jones, Kate (Pooya) Hajjarian, Jennifer (Chris) London, Kate (Travis) Thompson, Jody (Gene) Clark; and 10 great-grandchildren. Lois was preceded by siblings, Alice Jochums, Harriet Hewitt, Clara Bounds, and Marian Zerkle, and 1 great-grandchild
Visitation will be Friday, January 2, 2015 at the West Lebanon Church of the Nazarene, 501 S. High Street, West Lebanon, IN from 10:00 a.m. EST until service time at 11:00 a.m. EST with Pastor Bob Trafford officiating. Interment will follow at Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Lebanon Church of the Nazarene Benevolence Fund.
