James Roy Grimmett, age 54 of Williamsport, IN, passed away on November 18, 2015 at IU Arnett in Lafayette, IN.
Jim was born on July 24, 1961 in Charleston, SC. He was the son of Carl and Patricia (Whitaker) Grimmett. He graduated from Peru High School in 1980 and attended Indiana State University from 1980-1982 where he met his wife, Lori Ann Taylor. They married on June 6, 1983 and she survives. Jim lived in Georgia during his military career and lived the past 26 years in Williamsport.
Jim served in the Army Delta Force from 1985-1989. He was a member of the Hickman Heights Christian Church. Jim worked as an electrician for Chrysler and Alcoa. He loved to camp at Summers-Carroll Campground and go hunting. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who cherished time with his family and dog, Runt. Fishing with his grandchildren was a favorite thing to do. He also enjoyed building, working on computers, playing cards, gardening and cooking.
Surviving are, wife, Lori Grimmett of Williamsport, IN; father, Carl Grimmett of Peru, IN; son, Gregory Grimmett (Heather) of Williamsport, IN; daughters, Stacey Grimmett of Williamsport, IN and Amanda Grimmett (fiancée: Justin Lee) of Lafayette, IN; brother, Carl Joseph “Joe” Grimmett of Peru, IN; sister, Yvonne Hilgeman (Blake) of Peru, IN; grandchildren, Peyton, Cayden, Hunter and Lillyan Grimmett and Ticen Laughner; and in-laws, George and Fran Taylor of Williamsport, IN. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Grimmett.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Monday, November 23, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Services will be there on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Keeton officiating with military rites to follow at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Summers-Carroll Campground or Paws ‘n’ Claws Animal Shelter.
