Joy E. (Clark) Gooden, age 93 of Williamsport, IN went to be with the Lord at 12:19 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital.
Joy was born on August 19, 1922 in Hedrick, IN. She was the daughter of the late Orval and Nellie (Morlan) Clark. She lived in Harvey, IL in her early childhood before moving to Warren County, IN where she resided most of her life. She graduated from West Lebanon High School in 1940. On May 11, 1940 she married Enoch “E.D.” Gooden at the West Lebanon Christian Church. He preceded her in death on August 1, 2008.
Joy was a member of the West Lebanon Trinity Presbyterian Church. She served as Warren County Treasurer from 1985-1989 and also worked in other Warren County offices. She also served on the Absentee Election Board. She was a past member of the West Lebanon OES #162 and Warren County Republican Women’s Committee. She was very active and always kept up on politics. Joy liked to sew and read books before having macular degeneration of her eyes. She loved cooking for her family and being with all of her family.
Surviving are, 3 daughters, Karen (Les) Geisert of West Lebanon, IN, Sharon (Ron) Shelby of Houston, TX, Jill (Dave) Bonebrake of Greencastle, IN; 2 sisters, Mae DeBord of Zionsville, IN and Kay Cronkhite of Williamsport, IN; 6 grandchildren, Dianne (Mike) Owens, Gary (Deanna) Geisert, Alicia (Mark) Adams, Kim Shelby, Ryan (Emily) Bonebrake, Nichole (Adam) Knoll; and 13 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jacob, Caleb, Shayla, Sadie, Shelby, Robert, Randy, Garrett, Brandon, Ethan, Ally, and Grace. Joy was preceded in death by her husband, son, Gary Gooden, granddaughter, Kathy Geisert, and sister, Helen Cunningham.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Friday, November 27, 2015 from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ron Shelby officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Presbyterian Church.
