David Dwain DeSplinter, age 76 of Lafayette, IN and Lakeland, FL passed away at his Lafayette home at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015 in the presence and love of his family.
David was born in Kewana, IL on October 26, 1939 and grew up in Monon, IN and graduated from Monon High School in 1958. Upon graduation he served an enlistment in the US Army and was honorably discharged. He lived in Monticello, IN for several years and also in Lakeland, FL for 20 years. He was married May 31, 1985 in Lafayette to Sharon Johnson who survives.
Mr. DeSplinter worked in the Ingot Department at Alcoa for 31 years and retired in 1992. He also was employed part time at the Eaglebrook Golf Course in Lakeland. He was a member of the Bethany Christian Church in Lakeland and over the years had membership in several service clubs.
Surviving besides his wife are 4 children: Jill Amick of Lakeland, FL, Julie Morrison (husband: Rod) of Richmond, IN, Tami Medley of West Lafayette, IN and David DeSplinter (wife: Shannon) of Indianapolis, IN. A stepson, Wesley Hampton of Lafayette, IN, a brother, Delmar DeSplinter of Lakeport, FL, and 14 grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church, 329 N. 6th Street, Lafayette at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2015 with Pastor Greg Eberhard officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Church Chapel prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church in Lafayette or to the Bethany Christian Church at 4225 Pipkin Creek Road, Lakeland, FL 33811.
