Dewey E. Howard, Sr.

Dewey E. Howard, Sr., age 86 of Williamsport, IN, died at 2:57 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. Dewey was born on March 22, 1929 in Kramer, IN, the son of the late George and Emma (Jernagan) Howard. He served in the US Air Force. On July 29, 1950 he married Ann Roarks in Williamsport. She survives. Dewey was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Moose Lodge. He worked for Hicks Plaza, Harrison Steel, and Hose Technology retiring in 2000. He also mowed yards. Surviving with his wife, Ann, are children, Dewey “Luke” Howard, Jr. (June), Danny “Legg” Howard, Cheryl Merriman (Don) all of Williamsport, IN, and Leslie “Butch” Howard (Rhonda) of Frankfort, IN; siblings, Robert Howard (Nancy) of Attica, IN and Steve Howard (Vicki) of Williamsport, IN; sisters-in-law, Alice Howard and Marge Howard; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Dewey was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Ray Howard, grandson, Jason Ray Howard, 2 brothers, Jim Howard and Wayne Howard, and 2 sisters, Mae Wilson and Kathleen Longest. The family would like to take this time to thank the Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital Dr.’s, nurses, and staff for their excellent care. There will be no services at this time.
