Louise Bernice (Phelps) Bannon, age 78, of Williamsport died at 10:15 p.m. EDT on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at her home.
Louise was born in Hedrick, IN on August 29, 1930. She was the daughter of Oris and Annie (Jones) Phelps. Louise was a 1948 graduate of Williamsport High School and a lifelong Warren County resident. She married Arlie Bannon on June 17, 1948 at the Williamsport Christian Church parsonage with the Rev. Doug Dickey officiating. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2000.
Louise worked as a cook for the Seeger High School retiring in 1989. She was a member of the West Lebanon Christian Church and past member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #162 of West Lebanon. Louise was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to classic country and gospel music. She also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. She took great joy in feeding and watching hummingbirds. She especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Surviving are, 3 children, Ruthann Stevenson (husband: Kent) of Holmdel, NJ, Linda Potosky (husband: Paul) of rural Williamsport, and Arlena Bannon of Omaha, NE; 2 sisters, Phyllis Taylor (husband: Frank) of Hedrick, IN and June Thompson of West Lebanon; 4 grandchildren, Rick Stevenson (wife: Pennie) of Hancock, ME, Lee Ann Stevenson (husband: Andrew Muratore) of New York, NY, Bill Stevenson (wife: Tiffany) of Keyport, NJ, and Rebecca Frazee (husband: Craig) of Portland, IN;,6 great-grandchildren, Owen and Luke Muratore, Nahum & Zev Stevenson, Ryan Stevenson, Tessa Kaye Frazee and another great-grandson due in June; and several close and devoted nieces and nephews. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie, 1 brother, Lester Phelps, and 4 sisters, Letha Turnpaugh, Hazel Godbey, Irene Gill and Stella Hines.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Services will be there in the chapel on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. EDT with Minister Bruce Thornsbrough officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to West Lebanon Christian Church or the Warren County American Cancer Society.
