Earl E. Jackson, age 93 of Williamsport, IN died at 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Earl was born on April 28, 1922 in Hoopeston, IL. He was the son of William H. and Ida M. (Ziebert) Jackson. On December 7, 1946 he married Dorothy M. Witterich in Hoopeston, IL. She preceded him on August 22, 2010.
Earl served in the US Army was a Sgt. During WW II receiving the good conduct medal and a purple heart. He was a farmer and resided in Hoopeston, IL until moving to Williamsport, IN over 30 years ago. He was a member of the Williamsport UMC, VFW Post #3318 Attica, and American Legion Post #259 Williamsport. He enjoyed the outdoors, trapping, hunting, and fishing.
Surviving are, son, Gary Jackson (Linda) of Hermitage, TN; daughter, Vicki Fox (Michael) of Newburgh, IN; daughter-in-law, Joanne Jackson of Danville, IL; 2 brothers, Bob Jackson of Danville, IL and Lawrence Jackson of Spokane, WA; several nieces and nephews; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way. Earl was preceded in death by his wife, and 2 sons, Edward Earl Jackson and Richard Jackson.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport, IN on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. EST until service time at 1:00 p.m. EST with Rev. Charles B. Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, IL with full military rites. Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post #318 Attica or American Legion Post #259 Williamsport.
