Max L. Groff, age 76 of Williamsport, IN died at 6:03 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at IU Health in Lafayette, IN.
Max was born in West Lebanon, IN on May 28, 1939. He was the son of Lowell E. and Alberta L. (Cronkhite) Groff. He attended West Lebanon High School and was a Warren County resident all of his life. He married Harriet Roberts on August 20, 1986. She survives.
Max was an owner and operator of a trucking business for 60 years. After retiring from that he continued to work for Wright Farms. He loved to restore antique tractors and attend Little League baseball games and go-kart races. He enjoyed fishing. He loved to spend time with his family and friends and loved his kids and grandkids very much.
Surviving with his wife, Harriet, are, children, Bill (wife: Melanie), Jeff, and Glenn (wife: Angela) all of West Lebanon, IN and Jessica of Indianapolis, IN; siblings, Hershel Groff, Judy Colby (husband: Norman) and Lola Hislope (husband: Dormas) all of West Lebanon, IN; 7 grandchildren, Eric Askren, Brandon Askren, Emily Wash, Jacob Wash, Hannah Wash, Taylor Greenburg, and Cody Martin; and 2 great-grandchildren. Max was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Rick and Rudy Groff.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon on Friday, March 11, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be there in the chapel on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at noon with Minister Bruce Thornsbrough officiating. Interment will follow at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
