Eugene "Gene" Butler

Eugene "Gene" Butler, age 84 of West Lebanon, IN died on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center. Gene was born on October 15, 1931 in Monroe, MI. He was the son of Lewis Carl and Mabel (Stokes) Butler. Gene was raised by his stepmother, Leone Weaver Butler, after the passing of his mother. He was a Warren County resident most of his life. On June 23, 1957 he married Sharon Jordan. She survives. Gene served in the US Army from 1952-1954. He worked at Harrison Steel for over 20 years, the State Highway Department and before his retirement, Pinkerton Security. He was a member of the Marshfield Presbyterian Church. He loved to watch Nascar and liked to go camping. He enjoyed his family vacations. Surviving with his wife, Sharon, are, 1 daughter, Cheryl Poole (Robert) of Perrysville, IN; 1 brother, John Butler (Carol) of Danville, IL; 3 grandchildren, Ashley Olson, Nathaniel Poole, and Angeleah Poole; and 3 great-granddaughters, Cheyenne and Elise Olson and Violet Poole. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, son, Roger Butler, and infant sister, Judith Carol Butler. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon, IN on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jim Russell officiating. Interment will follow at Danville National Cemetery in Danville, IL. Memorial contributions may be to the Humane Society.
