Mary E. (Beam) Brown age 86 of Danville, IL passed after a long illness, Sunday, May 22, at 9:29 a.m. at home with family. Mary was born in Potomac, IL on November 23, 1929. She was the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth K. (Moore) Beam. She attended Alvin schools. She married her true love, Richard C. Brown, on February 12, 1948 in Danville, IL. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1983. Mary worked for the Warren County Highway Department doing road maintenance from 1975-1983. She was one of the first women to drive the road graders and snow plows, working alongside her husband. Previous to that she worked for TRW in Hoopeston, IL for several years. She had been a member of the Christian Church in Alvin, IL. She loved to do quilting and was a great cook. She was an avid reader enjoyed gardening, and spent hours on the phone visiting with her friends. Surviving are, several nieces and nephews on Mary’s side of the family, Kathy and Bob Richard of Danville, IL, John & Cheryl Morrison of Kissimmee, FL, Robert & Pat Morrison of Danville, IN, Cathy Ross of Kaneville, IL and Rondi Ross of Boyne City, MI, Regina Stitt of Attica, IN great nieces and nephews, Adam and Amelia Richard, Amber Lynn & Andrew Vincent, Jeff and Heather Ross, and several great-great nephews and nieces. On the Brown side of the family, Mary is survived by three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth L. Limauge, of CT, Elizabeth Brown of Attica, IN, and Betty Brown of Kingman, IN. There was also 24 nieces and nephews on this side of the family. She had many close personal friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters, Betty Ross and Marian Morrison. Also nephews Glenn Ross, Rod Ross, and great niece Suzi Ross. Mary requested no visitation, but a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Bobette Steely Hegeler Cancer Care Center of Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. The family would like to thank Dr. Labayog and the Cancer Center staff for their care during this time.
