Charles "Charlie" Thomas Stone

Charles Thomas Stone, age 77 of Independence, IN died at 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at his residence. Charlie was born on July 11, 1938 in Lafayette, IN. He was the son of Charles Mason Stone and Goldie Louise (Bruce) Glass. He was raised by Daniel and Goldie Hostetler. On August 13, 1972 he married Gladys I. Sollers and she survives. Charlie served in the Army National Guard from 1962 to 1964. He worked as a mechanic for various places for 38 years. Before retirement he worked for Lafayette Glass. He enjoyed woodworking and set up at flea markets for 27 years. He was the track manager at Henry’s for many years. Charlie especially enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family. Surviving are, 4 children, James Stone (Brenda) and Timothy Stone (Lezlie) both of Lafayette, IN, Regina Slade (Kyle) of Greenwood, IN, and Robin Kiefer (Mick) of Pine Village, IN; 6 siblings; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, 3 siblings, and a daughter, Becky McCaw. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 1:00 until service time at 3:00 p.m. with Joe Klinger officiating. Interment will follow at Independence Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association or Southern Care Hospice.
