Berneice (Barnhart) Salts, age 93 of Vincennes formerly of West Lebanon, died at Lodge of the Wabash at 6:20 P.M. on Monday, July 11, 2016.
Berneice was the daughter of Charles and Bertha (Burge) Barnhart. She was born in Jasper, MI on January 7, 1923. Berneice lived in Des Moines, IA until the age of 10 before moving to West Lebanon, IN. On April 26, 1941 she married Walter “Bud” A. Salts in West Lebanon in his parents’ home. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2008.
Berneice worked for Warren County Farm Bureau for 19 years and then was a bank teller at Central National Bank & Trust in Attica, IN, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in West Lebanon where she sang in the church choir. She was a member of the West Lebanon Friends of the Library and Warren County Historical Society. She enjoyed crafts of beadwork and quilting. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and housekeeping.
Surviving are 1 son, Rick L. Salts (wife: Jenice) of Vincennes, IN; 1 sister, Inez Ogborn of Dundee, FL, 1 niece, Janice Reeder, Danville, IL; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Berneice was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Graveside services will be held at West Lebanon Cemetery on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. David Lawrence and Pastor Roger Andrew McDaniel officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the West Lebanon Trinity Presbyterian Church or the Warren County Community Foundation for the Fleming Scout Ranch Fund.
