Mildred Lucille “Blondie” Lawson, age 94 of West Lebanon, IN died at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Blondie was born on April 5, 1922 in Villa Grove, IL. She was the daughter of William L. and Mildred M. (Priest) Duell. She lived in Georgetown, IL until her marriage to James C. Lawson of West Lebanon, IN on September 27, 1941. He preceded her in death on September 27, 1992.
Blondie baked cakes for every occasion, also she and Jim, loved raising calves, baby pigs and other livestock. They enjoyed fishing and going to the sale barns. They loved doing carpenter work. They built most off their house they lived in for about thirty plus years, along with the help of their children, James and Sherri, and their spouses.
Blondie was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, James R. Lawson, sisters, Geneva M. Sykes and Virginia L. Griffith, brother, George Duell and a great-granddaughter, Skyla Spurr.
Surviving are, 1 daughter, Sherri C. (Lawson) Spurr of Baltimore, MD; sisters, Wilma M. Rice (Edward) of New Hampshire, Ida Irene Riddle (James) and Sarah J. Grave of Danville, IL; brother, James P. Duell of Danville, IL; 3 grandsons, James R. Lawson, Jason W. Spurr and John M. Spurr; 2 granddaughters, Catrina (Lawson) Curran and Danielle R. Lawson Tanner; 6 great-granddaughters, Kimberly Curran, Nichole Spurr, Erika Spurr, Torrie Tanner, Marie Tanner, and Joelle R. Lawson Curran, whom they cared for and raised until the age of 7; and 1 great-grandson, Jack Tanner
Graveside services will be at the West Lebanon Cemetery on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Shawn Carasa officiating.
