Elizabeth Ellen “Libby” Garrett, 88, of rural Attica, passed away 4:05 AM Saturday July 16, 2016 at her granddaughter Sherry (Greg) Freeland’s home; where she had resided for the last eight years. Sherry was her 24 hour caregiver.
Libby was born August 8, 1927 near Bethel Ridge KY the daughter of Mose and Lydia Francis (Wesley) Martin. She married Howard Garrett November 6, 1942 in Warren County, and he preceded her in death April 10, 1991.
She is also preceded in death by a sister, Kate Lanham; two brothers, Harvey and Howard Martin; a grandson, Trevor Dill; and three sons in law, Bill Gooden, Jim Robinson, and Dale White.
Surviving family include four daughters, Glenda (George) Ringle, Lafayette; Peggy Robinson, Attica; Sharon (John) Dill, Attica; Margo White, Williamsport; eleven grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
Early in life Libby had been employed at local family owned groceries; in 1965 she was employed by Kroger in Attica, and was employed by Kroger for 32 years prior to her retirement.
Libby was a member of the Hickman Heights Christian Church in rural Warren County. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was always there when anyone needed her; whether it be family, friends, or even complete strangers at times.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday July 20, 2016 at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport, IN with Pastor Steve Brier officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday July 19, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will follow service at Highland Cemetery in Williamsport, IN.
