Francis “Peanut” H. Neal, age 95 of Pine Village, IN died at 9:26 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at IU Health in Lafayette, IN. Peanut was born August 31, 1921 in Rainsville, IN. He was the son of Ben and Zula (Hickman) Neal. He lived in Pine Village since 1934 and was a lifelong Warren County resident. He attended Rainsville and Pine Village schools. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946. On April 9, 1950 he married Alice M. Hobaugh at the Rainsville United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on August 22, 2008. Peanut worked as an auto mechanic and at Fairfield Manufacturing retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Pine Village United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the Pine Village Lions Club serving as President and Treasurer throughout his membership. He loved to garden and do yard work. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are, 1 daughter, Gayle Biggs (husband: Jerry) of Lafayette; 3 grandchildren, Amy Kult of Brownsburg, IN, Neal Biggs (wife: Molly) of New Albany, IN, and Benjamin Biggs of Lafayette; and 4 great-grandchildren, Madison Kult, Kayla Kult, Rylie Biggs, and Regan Biggs. Peanut was preceded in death by an infant sister, Ethel Neal; 1 brother, Clinton “Bud” Neal; and 5 sisters, Mirna Landon, Eileen Emrick, Kathleen Royer, Betty Hail and Marian Gray. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be at the Pine Village United Methodist Church on Monday, October 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastors Mike Link and Norm Nellis officiating. Interment will be at Rainsville Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pine Village Food Bank or IU Health Hospice.
