Jeffrey Ralph Cox

Jeffrey “Jeff” Ralph Cox, age 54 of Williamsport, died at 3:25 am on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis, IN. Jeff was born on December 24, 1954 in Williamsport, IN. He was the son of Ralph J. and Merlie (Robbins) Cox. He graduated from Seeger High School in 1974. Jeff served in the US Navy at San Diego, CA. He moved to Alabama in 1985 and returned to Williamsport in January 2000. He married Marcia W. Rutherford in Indianapolis on May 10, 2002. She survives. Jeff began working in the foundry department at General Motors in Danville, IL in 1977 and continued working for General Motors until February 2000. He then worked for Allison Transmission, a division of General Motors, in Indianapolis on the assembly line until retiring on October 1, 2007. Jeff was a member of the UAB #922. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and working on cars, especially hot rods. He loved movies and his favorite movie was The Notebook. He loved spending time with his family and his cat, Boo Boo. Surviving with his wife, Marcia, are, father, Ralph J. Cox of Williamsport, IN; 3 daughters, Alison Marie Cox of Indianapolis, IN; Aimee Denise Cox of Indianapolis, IN; and Brianna Michelle Cox-Bryars of Athens, Alabama; 2 step-daughters, Christiann Wright of Decatur, AL and Tanya Lee Wright of Athens, AL; 2 step-sons, Joshua Bruce Wright-Hayes of and Zachary Paul Wright-Hayes both of Harvest, AL; brother, Chris Cox of Williamsport, IN; father-in-law, Bill Rutherford of Decatur, AL; sister-in-law, Jeanne Rutherford Hayes of Harvest, AL; cousin, Allen Cantrell of Nashville, TN; and 3 grandchildren, Mariah Wright, Laci Wright, and Mia Bryars. Jeff was preceded in death by his mother, Merlie Cox. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport, IN on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm EDT. Services will be there in the chapel on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 2:00 pm EDT with Randy Satterfield officiating. Interment will be at Locust Grove Cemetery.
