Leroy Edward Rothrock, Sr., age 96 of Williamsport, IN died at 4:15 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017 at his residence. Leroy was born on April 27, 1920 in Indianapolis, IN. He was the son of George W. Rothrock and Hyacinth (Parker) Rothrock Hicks. He attended Indianapolis school and had resided in Williamsport since 1936. On August 23, 1946 he married E. Maxine Martin in Attica, IN. She preceded him in death on May 6, 1974. Leroy served in the US Army during World War II, receiving a purple heart, 2 bronze stars, and his service medal. He worked for Sheridan Hardware, Poston Brickyard, Warren County Highway Department and the Warren County Landfill retiring in 1982. He was a life member of the VFW Post #3318 and the American Legion Post #259. He was also a past member of the Warren County Civil Defense Team. He was a collector of Mudlavia items, cookie jars, stamps and license plates. He enjoyed tinkering on things. He loved to take old pictures and frame them. Surviving are, children, Richard Lee Rothrock of NY, Leroy E. Rothrock, Jr. (Norma) of Williamsport, IN, James “Rocky” R. Rothrock of Williamsport, IN, Harold Scott Rothrock (Melody) of Marlette, MI, Daryl R. Rothrock of Jaffrey, NY, Dawne Boyle (Jeff) of Danville, IL; sister, Georgetta Eidson of Tampa, FL; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Leroy was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, daughter and son-in-law, Ronald and Donna Kay Trimble, brother, Fredrick Rothrock, and great-grandson, Kevin Lindstrom. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport, IN on Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Services will be there in the chapel on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Wickens officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to offset funeral expenses.
