Joan "Jody" L. (Ringer) Larson

Joan “Jody” L. (Ringer) Larson, age 75 of Williamsport, died suddenly in her home at 8:12 pm on Monday, August 31, 2009. Jody was born on December 20, 1933 in Lafayette, IN. She was the daughter of Alfred V. and Dorothy “Dotty” E. (Slabaugh) Ringer. She grew up in Warren County. Jody was a 1951 graduate of Williamsport High School and a 1955 Indiana University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree. Jody worked for several universities in food services as a dietician, including Stanford, University of Hawaii, and Indiana University, from 1955 to 1966. She moved to Attica in 1966 and from 1966 to 1974 she worked for the Fountain Warren County Health Department. She worked for the VA from 1974 to 1994 as a dietician. During that time she also worked part time for the Williamsport Community Hospital as a dietician until 1984. She moved back to Williamsport in 1984. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Bingy Babes, numerous bridge clubs, Investment Club, Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, Friends of the Library, and Legacy Builders. She was a supporter of many charitable causes. She was a cookbook collector and enjoyed traveling since her retirement. She was renowned for her cooking and was an avid IU supporter. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Surviving are, 2 children, John A. Larson (wife: Pam) and Jennifer A. Larson-Haussin, both of Williamsport; 2 brothers, Thomas L. Ringer (wife: Juanita) of Teton Village, WY and William A. Ringer (wife: Marilyn) of Kramer, IN; and 3 grandchildren, Alex and Tori Larson and Becca Haussin. Jody was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law, Gregg Haussin. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm EST. Services will be there in the chapel on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 11:00 am EST with Rev. Roger McDaniel officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Warren County Community Foundation to the Mac Van or Senior Center funds. The Warren County Community Foundation is currently matching these funds at 50%.
