Ella L. (Smith) Odle

Ella L. Odle, age 85, of Lafayette, died at 8:20 am on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at St. Mary Health Care Center in Lafayette, IN. Mrs. Odle was born in Fountain County near Hillsboro, IN on May 9, 1924. She attended school at Attica, IN prior to moving to Williamsport, IN at an early age, where she graduated from High School in 1942. During WW II, Ella worked as a Clerk at the Grab-It-Here Grocery Store at Williamsport, IN. On March 10, 1946 Ella was married to Ralph T. Odle at Williamsport, IN. He survives. Mrs. Odle, was a homemaker for several years and became an “Avon” Cosmetics Sales Representative in the Brookston, IN area, winning many sales awards in this capacity. She was a teller for the Farmers State Bank in Brookston, IN for ten years, and then became an Account Clerk at Wiley Residence Hall at Purdue University for fifteen years, retiring from there in 1988. She was a former member of the Williamsport United Methodist Church. Mrs. Odle enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, nature walks, word puzzles, and her family. Surviving with her husband, Ralph, are 3 children, a daughter, Linda J. Odle Kelly of Lafayette, IN, and two sons, F. Darrell “Duffy” Odle (wife: Jackie) of Monticello, IN and Leslie D. Odle (wife: MeChong) of Indianapolis, IN; 7 grandchildren, Crisi Kinslow, Jason B. Keyes, Royce Odle, Bradley Odle, Matthew Odle (wife: Karolina), Ronald N. Odle, and Kimberly Odle-Peters (husband: Tony); 2 great-grandchildren, MaKayla Keyes and Max Sarafin Odle Mrs. Odle was preceded in death by her parents, Robert W. and Hazel E. Smith, a brother, Lawrence D. Smith and two sisters, Norma K. Smith Mayer and Berdena M. Smith Fraker. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:30 pm. Services will be at the Williamsport United Methodist Church on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 11:00 am with Rev. Charles B. Anderson officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Williamsport United Methodist Church or the Williamsport United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
