Lucy A (Lape) Phelps, age 49 of Rowlett, TX, formerly of West Lebanon, IN, died at 11:55 pm on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Vitas Innovative Hospice in Irving, TX.
Lucy was born January 29, 1960 in Champaign, IL, the daughter of Ivan Leroy and May Eileen (Groff) Lape. Lucy was a 1979 graduate of Seeger High School. She lived in Rantoul, IL before moving to Rowlett, TX where she had lived the past 15 years. On December 27, 1994 she married Les Phelps in Richardson, TX. He survives.
Lucy worked as a manager at the Sweet Factory in Dallas, TX. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rowlett where she sang in the choir. She was a former board member of Keep Rowlett Beautiful having been active and devoted.
Surviving with her husband, Les, are, 2 sons, Tyler Lape and Bradley Phelps both of Rowlett, TX, and 1 daughter, Skyler Lape of Lewisville, TX; 1 step-daughter, April Blythe of Arlington, TX; 1 brother, Roger Lape (wife: Linda) of West Lebanon, IN; and 2 sisters, Marsha VanHook of Newtown, IN and Edie Foust (husband: Terry) of West Lebanon, IN. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon on Friday, October 16, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Services will be there in the chapel on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Minister Bruce Thornsbrough officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery.
