Specialist Mark A. Johnson, age 34 of Williamsport, died at 6:18 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at his home in Harker Heights, TX due to complications from surgery. He was born April 5, 1976 in Lafayette, to Paul D. and Deborah L. (Foster) Johnson. He was a 1995 graduate of Seeger Memorial High School. On March 24, 2007 he married Heavenli Godbey in Plainfield, IN. She survives. In 2007, Mark enlisted in the Army. He served 3 years with a 9 month deployment with his unit, Foxtrot Forward Support Company 215th Brigade Support Battalion, in Iraq. He was currently stationed at Fort Hood. Surviving with his parents and his wife are his children, Cayden Johnson of Fort Hood and Tyson Johnson of Lafayette, and a brother, Brennen Johnson (wife: Becky) of Lafayette. Also surviving are his grandparents, Charles and Helen Foster of Hammond, IN, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Susan Godbey of Clayton, IN and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Mildred Beason, an aunt, Carol Watkins, and an uncle, Max Johnson. He was a man dedicated to his family and friends. He was also kind and generous to everyone he came in contact with. Mark was a big fan of the Detroit Red Wings, enjoyed sports, and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful father and loving husband, and never went anywhere without his beautiful smile. He could make anyone laugh and always was a strong man. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Monday, May 10, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be there in the chapel on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Danny Thomas from the Apostolic Lighthouse in Indianapolis officiating. Interment will be at Rainsville Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial donations may be made to Heavenli Johnson, for his sons, Cayden and Tyson Johnson.
