Alice Irene (Derringer) Robbins

Alice Irene (Derringer) Robbins, age 92 of Veedersburg, died at 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at The Waters of Covington. Alice was born in Danville, IL on August 2, 1917. She was the daughter of William H. and Nellie Mae (Frazee) Derringer. She lived in Williamsport for many years before moving to Veedersburg in 1985 where she had resided with her daughter and son-in-law until moving to the nursing home in 2006. Alice married Elmer R. Robbins in Dixon, KY on August 25, 1940. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1992. Alice was a homemaker. She worked for several years at Smith Studio in Attica tinting pictures. She was a former member of the Christian Church of Covington. She wrote, “It was always my desire to be a very devoted mother and homemaker, be an avid reader, do crossword puzzles, and hold family get-togethers.” Surviving are, 4 sons, Ron Robbins (wife: Debby) and Rick Robbins (wife: Mary) both of Lafayette; Randy Robbins (wife: Nancy) of Mays Landing, NJ; and Rock Robbins (wife: Kelly) of Veedersburg; 1 daughter, Gina Blankenship (husband: Wayne) of Veedersburg; 1 sister, Maxine Crisp of Perrysville, IN; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandsons. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, 4 brothers, and 1 sister. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Services will be there in the chapel on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital.
